Milas Karacahisar Medallion Carpet

 This carpet, woven 70-80 years ago in Milas Karacahisar in the West Anatolia Region, has a medallion in the middle and abstract leaf and flower motifs on 4 sides.

It was woven using wool and cotton yarns. The green color used in the carpet is made of mud, because it is acidic, it undergoes corrosion over time and collapses down and the patterns around it become more prominent like relief, which adds value to your carpet as it ages. Milas Carpets are a rich part of Turkish carpet art. They are aesthetic works of art that are recognized all over the world and used in home decorations. Milas carpets were taken under protection by taking the Geographical location mark in 1997.
