Milas Bencik Handwoven Rug 2
176 cm x 280 cm / 5'77'' x 9'19''
Woven approximately 50-60 years ago in Bencik Village, located in the Milas district of the Western Anatolia Region, using woollen threads. The kilim features dominant colours such as red, yellow, brown, blue, pink, and purple. Since natural root dyes were used, the colours do not fade and retain their vibrancy for many years. In Bencik kilims red represents life and energy, blue symbolises infinity and the sky, green represents nature and renewal, while white and black provide contrast, making the motifs stand out. Bencik kilims are considered works of art due to their uniqueness and the labour-intensive handwoven craftsmanship, as well as being a part of cultural heritage. Geographical indication studies for Milas Bencik kilims are ongoing.
During product photography, variations in lighting may cause slight differences in colour tones between the photos and the actual product. Some pieces have been kept in chests for many years without being used, while others may show signs of use. Minor repairs might have been made to certain areas over time, while other parts were deliberately left untouched to preserve their originality. We have done our best to reflect such details in the photographs. Please pay attention to these small details when purchasing your product.
