Product Description

Balikesir Hand Woven Rug

Size 3'5 ft x 5'6 ft

It was woven 30-40 years ago by Nomads in Balikesir province in West Anatolia. Wool on wool yarns were used in weaving. Soil colour is used in the middle of the rug and green, cream and light blue colours are used in the borders. The wool is dyed using plants such as turmeric, spurge, olive leaves, pomegranate peel, walnut shell, juniper leaves, linden, onion peel. Symbols such as ram's horn and monster's feet, which are rooted in Shamanism, were used. For more information about symbols and motifs, please visit our blog page.
