It was woven 50-60 years ago by the Karakechili
Nomads of the province of Balikesir in West Anatolia. Wool on wool yarns were
used in the weaving. Typical earth colours and tones were used on the ground.
Dark colours such as black and navy blue were preferred for the borders. The
symbols on it are multi-coloured. Karakechili Nomads dye their wool using herbs
such as turmeric, euphorbia, olive leaves, pomegranate peel, walnut shell,
juniper leaves, linden, onion peel, etc. To change the colour tones, they use
vinegar, unriped grape juice, moss, clay and ash. This process is called
mordanting. This rug has a geometric scorpion symbol on the side borders. In the
centre of the rug there are fertility symbols. Due to differences in light
during the photographing of the products, there may be differences in colour
tones between the photograph and the actual product. Some products may have
been stored in chests for many years without being used and some products may
have been used. Some parts of the products may have undergone minor repairs

in the pictures. Please pay attention to these small details when purchasing
