It was woven 50-60 years ago by the Karakechili Nomads of Balikesir province in West Anatolia. Wool on wool yarns were used in its weaving. Typical soil colours and tones are used on the ground. Dark colours such as black and dark blue are preferred for the borders. The symbols on it are multi-coloured. Karakechili Nomads dye their wool using herbs such as turmeric, euphorbia, olive leaves, pomegranate peel, walnut shell, juniper leaves, linden and onion peel. In order to change the colour tones, they use vinegar, unriped grape juice, moss, clay and ash. This process is called mordanting. In the borders of this rug, there is the symbol of the burdock. There is also the fetter symbol. In the centre of the rug is the abundance symbol.
