     This remarkable kilim was handwoven approximately 110–120 years ago in Obruk village, one of the notable weaving centres of Central Anatolia’s Konya region. Crafted entirely from hand-spun wool and coloured with natural plant-based dyes, the piece features a striking mihrab (prayer niche) design, a traditional motif symbolising sacred space and spiritual alignment in Anatolian weaving heritage.

     The softened red and green tones across the field have mellowed beautifully over time, creating a balanced and sophisticated palette. The central row of eight-pointed medallions conveys traditional meanings such as fertility, protection, and continuity, while the symmetrical geometry and multi-toned borders reflect exceptional artisanry.

     This antique kilim remains in good condition and stands out as a rare and meaningful piece, ideal for collectors or lovers of ethnic interiors. It can be used as a decorative statement in living areas, behind a bed as a wall hanging, or as part of a curated exhibition setting.
