     This rare and authentic kilim was handwoven approximately 150 years ago in the Van region of Eastern Anatolia, an area with a deeply rooted Kurdish weaving tradition. Crafted entirely from hand-spun wool and coloured with natural plant-based dyes, it stands as a powerful testament to Anatolia’s nomadic textile heritage.

     The composition features striking diamond medallions, surrounded by tribal motifs in earthy tones such as rust, deep blue, soft apricot, and ivory. The central motifs reflect protection and fertility symbols commonly used in the region. Over time, the natural dyes have gently faded into elegant pastel shades, lending the rug a serene and poetic character.

     Despite its age, the kilim is in good condition, preserving both its structural integrity and visual richness. Minor wear, irregularities, or previous small repairs are considered natural in antique textiles and add to its charm and authenticity.
