Handwoven Vintage Balikesir Pastel Kilim
130 cm × 216 cm / 4'3" × 7'1"
This exceptional handwoven Balikesir kilim is approximately 70 to 80 years old and is a rare piece originating from the southern Marmara region of Turkiye. It has been entirely woven using hand-spun wool yarns and derives its soft pastel hues from natural plant-based dyes. With its calm and timeworn appearance, it holds both aesthetic and cultural value.
The traditional motifs flowing through horizontal bands reflect the weaving heritage of the region, while the gentle colour transitions and fading highlight the beauty of its lived-in history. With its understated yet characterful design, this piece brings both warmth and a sense of history to any interior. Being handmade, it is not only decorative but also a textile full of soul.
This kilim bears visible traces of time. Signs of wear, fading, minor repairs, or natural ageing left intentionally untouched to preserve its originality may be present. We have done our best to reflect these details in the photographs. We kindly ask you to examine the images carefully before purchasing.
Due to lighting conditions during photography, there may be slight differences in colour tones between the images and the actual product. Some items have been carefully stored for many years without use, while others may show signs of gentle wear. In some cases, minor restorations may have been made over time, whereas in others, original areas have been left intact to preserve authenticity. We have aimed to show these aspects as accurately as possible through the images. Please take note of these small details when making your purchase.
