Product Description

West Anatolia Region Kozak Rug

Dimensions  64 in x 103 in

It is a rug woven 60-70 years ago in Bergama Kozak Plateau in West Anatolia, entirely from wool yarns using the cicim technique. This rug, which is not woven today, is under protection with a geographical indication. It used to be produced in village houses without any commercial purpose. There are 10 chests in this rug called Sandikli. Inside the chests, there are symbols of stars, burdock and fertility. A girl weaving a chest is a form used to convey to her family that she is ready for marriage. There are many hook symbols around the chests and on the border of the rug. The hook symbol is woven to protect against danger. Due to differences in lighting during the photography of the products, there may be differences in color tones between the photograph and the actual product. Some products may have been stored in crates for many years without being used, while some products may have been used. Some parts of the products may have undergone minor repairs over the years, while some parts have not been touched in order not to disturb the originality. We have tried to reflect such situations as much as possible in the pictures. Please pay attention to these small details when purchasing your product.
